Gir gives slightly more milk (8–12 L/day vs Sahiwal's 8–11 L/day) with higher fat content (4.5–5.0% vs 4.5%). However, Sahiwal is hardier in humid climates and has lower vet bills in Punjab/Haryana belt. Both are A2 milk breeds.
Gir is generally the most profitable due to its strong A2 milk brand recognition, high fat content, and export-quality genetics. Sahiwal is a close second for North Indian farmers. Kankrej and Tharparkar are excellent for arid-region farmers with lower input costs.
