Nagori was historically the bullock of choice for Marwari merchants who needed fast cart animals for trade routes across Rajasthan. The breed shares ancestry with Tharparkar and Hariana. Conservation efforts are limited; the Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Department maintains a small nucleus herd.
