Access advanced clinical tools: calculate medication dosage, determine dehydration fluid deficits, and estimate cow age using incisors teeth.
💡 Note for Vets: Administer fluids warm. Deficit should be replaced over 4-6 hours, while maintenance is delivered over the remainder of the 24 hour cycle.
CRITICAL DISCLAIMER: Veterinary dosage calculations are provided for educational references only. Actual prescription, diagnostics and IV administration must be performed exclusively by a licensed veterinary practitioner.
Cattle age is estimated by inspecting the eruption of the lower permanent incisors. Calves have temporary milk teeth. Two permanent central incisors appear around 1.5-2 years, four incisors at 2-2.5 years, six incisors at 2.5-3 years, and a "full mouth" of eight permanent incisors by 3.5-5 years.
Fluid deficit represents the volume of intravenous fluid needed to restore hydration. It is calculated by multiplying the animal's weight (kg) by the dehydration percentage (e.g. 5% mild, 8% moderate, 10%+ severe). The total volume must include daily maintenance fluids.
